What Our People Say

Dr. Khumbuzile Mosoma
Senior Manager: Agribusiness Development
"I joined the National Agricultural Marketing Council in 2014, and my journey within the organisation has been one of continuous growth, learning, and impact. Over the years, I have had the privilege of contributing to an institution that plays a strategic role in advancing inclusive growth and transformation in South Africa’s agricultural sector.

My work at NAMC has provided extensive exposure to development-oriented programmes and high-level stakeholder engagement that support improved agricultural market performance and evidence-based policy. During my tenure, I also completed my PhD in Economics, reflecting both a personal milestone and the organisation’s strong culture of learning and performance.

What sets NAMC apart is its supportive, professional, and intellectually rigorous environment, where innovation is encouraged, contributions are valued, and teamwork is central. I am proud to have built my career at NAMC and to contribute to its important mandate."
Mr Schalk Burger
Senior Manager: Statutory Measures
""“The last few years I was fortunate to be the Senior Manager for the Statutory Measures Division. If you are in this position, it is important to have a bird’s eye view and to be careful of the unintended consequences of your decisions. Over the years, we had a small, but a mean team. The economists, namely Lizette for field crop products, Mathilda for horticultural products and BM (previously Ndumiso) for livestock products, built up many years of experience and have strong networking capabilities. They are working closely with the relevant commodity organisations and for the mutual benefit of the public and the private sectors, there must be trust and respect between each other.

I was privileged to work for the NAMC for 38 years and am thankful for the small contribution I could made to the current status of statutory measures in South Africa, and which can make the NAMC very proud.” - Schalk Burger, 23 January 2026.""
Dr. Simphiwe Ngqangweni
Chief Executive Officer
"The NAMC has been my professional home for 15 years, excluding a three-year period at the national Department of Agriculture. I joined the organisation in 2006 as a Senior Researcher and had the opportunity to contribute to impactful work, including influencing a major food business merger decision and leading widely recognised baseline value chain studies across key agricultural subsectors. These projects helped promote a deeper understanding of South Africa’s agricultural sector.
Being part of the NAMC means playing a role in shaping how statutory funds are used by the private sector to support inclusive growth and competitiveness, while also strengthening agricultural policy through meaningful analysis.
Now serving as CEO, I value the organisation’s culture of innovation, teamwork and personal development, which has earned the NAMC strong respect from both government and non-government stakeholders."
